Barbeque Basket Winner!

Congratulations to Ellen Kurkowski who won the Friends of the Library Barbeque Basket raffle! And kudos to the Friends who raised $137.00 for the library! Thanks to all who took a chance on the basket, to the folks and businesses who donated items for the basket and to the Friends of the Waterford Library for their ongoing efforts to raise both funds for and awareness of the Waterford Library. |

Friends Barbeque Basket Raffle

As part of their ongoing efforts to support youth activities here at the Library the Friends of the Library are selling chances on a beautiful Barbeque Basket. The basket includes all sorts of goodies guaranteed to make your next cook-out a winner! Stop by the library to see the basket and support the Friends by taking a chance. The drawing will take place on May 12th during Canalfest at the Friends table on the waterfront. |

Waterford Public Library Takes the Field

| For a second year, the library is proud to sponsor a T-Ball team in the Waterford Youth Council Baseball program. Our team kicks off its season on Wednesday May 2nd at 6:15pm against McDonalds. Upcoming games in May take place on 5/5, 5/9, 5/12, 5/19, 5/21, and 5/30. Please call the library for additional details. Plan to head out to Garrett Field and root our team to victory! |

May Adult Programming Highlights

Two exciting and informative programs to attend here at the Waterford Library in May. Just in time for Mother's Day we are hosting a "Sisters in Crime" event on Sat. May 12th from 1-3pm. The event which we are calling the "Mother of all Mysteries" features three local mystery authors, Susanne Alleyn, M. E. Kemp, and Julia Pomeroy. Each author will talk about their books and mystery writing in general and copies of their work will be available for sale and signature. Then on Wednesday May 16th from 6:30 until 8pm the library welcomes Amy Howansky from Backyard Solutions. Amy will be talking about Landscape Design Theory or what plants work best with your particular landscape? It's that time of year again, and Amy will help answer your gardening and landscaping questions. |

April Programming

As the month of April winds down and hopefully warms up, the library is featuring two terrific programs for adults. First up on Monday April 23rd at 6:30pm, the library welcomes chiropractor Dr. Frank Robinson. Dr. Frank will be talking about how important correct posture is to a healthy work environment, particularly these days with so much emphasis on using computers for long periods! Then on Wed. April 25th we are pleased to present our second annual Spring Golf Clinic! Once again area golf pro Mike Stefanik will join us to demonstrate proper golf techniques and dispense tips that are sure to lower your scores this year! More details about both programs are available on the calendar. As always seating is limited so don't hesitate to call and register your spot at 237-0891.

National Library Week

April 15th through the 21st is National Library Week. As part of our ongoing efforts to highlight the importance of libraries in our communities, as well as introduce our new downloadable audiobooks service, the library will be giving away a Sansa Mp3 player! Anyone with a valid SALS/MVLS library card is welcome to stop by the library during National Library week and fill out an entry form. One form per library card. Don't have a library card yet, or need to have yours updated? Now's the time to get in gear and you might just win some cool new gear, courtesy of your library! Spring Break with the Tang: Rotating Nests

The Tang Museum will offer a special program for kids on Wednesday, April 11th at 3 pm. Children in grades 1-5 are invited to participate in this creative program, which explores the work of artist Martin Kersels. Come check out pictures of the artist’s gigantic rotating nest and create your own using a variety of colorful materials. Register today by contacting the Library at 237-0891. Downloadable Audiobooks Are Here!

Thanks to a grant from the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors we are pleased to announce that downloadable audiobooks are available at the Waterford Library. Now from the comfort of your home computer you can sign up for an account using your library card and begin enjoying a large selection of titles that you can listen to on your computer or load on to a portable mp3 player. March 2007 Programming Highlights

The Waterford Library is pleased to be hosting two programs in March that we hope will be of great interest to our patrons. On Monday March 12th at 6:30pm, we welcome Acupuncturist John O'Brien. Mr O'Brien will be introducing this ancient Chinese medical technique which he has been studying and practicing for 12 years. Then on Wednesday March 21st at 6:30 we welcome Virginia Bolen. Ms.Bolen, whose specialty is Capital Region history, will be presenting a workshop on genealogy research; which will include tips on how to get started in family research and a demonstration of Ancestry Plus. A Blog, which is short for web-log, is an on-line journal and a great way to communicate what new and exciting events or activities are taking place here at the library.
