A valid library card is necessary to borrow materials from the Waterford Public Library. Any resident of the service area is eligible for a card upon presentation of proof of residency. Anyone employed or attending school within the service area is eligible upon presentation of proof of employment or enrollment. Non-residents who reside in the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) or Mohawk Valley Library System (MVLS) may borrow freely upon presentation of a valid card from their home library. Home libraries may be contacted to ascertain the status of borrowers wishing to use the Waterford Public Library. People residing outside the SALS/MVLS service area may obtain a library card by paying an annual non-resident fee of $5.00 dollars.
> A child may have a library card when he/she has enrolled in Kindergarten. The child should be able to sign their name legibly. A parent or guardian must be present to complete the application card.
> Students in seventh grade and above are not required to obtain the signature of a parent or guardian when registering for a library card.
> Family members are not allowed to use another family members card without that person being present at the time of use.
