We are mere days away from one of the best reasons to live in our beautiful corner of the world. The 142nd Season at Saratoga kicks off Friday July 23rd. Before you make your plans to visit the track, stop by the library to check the Racing Form, explore the many books on horses and Saratoga in our collection, including a few on handicapping like the pros! We will have the Pink Sheet available each day too! Just another reason to keep the library on your perpetual “to-visit” list!
Beginning Monday June 28th after 3pm, the library will once again welcome young readers to our Summer Reading Program. Sign-ups will take place either in the library or via the new online page. Check the Calendar page of the website for info on upcoming programs and activities. Paper copies of the calendar are available at the library. The library will once again play host to a Spring Golf Clinic on Thursday April 22, beginning at 6:30pm. John Peterson, PGA Pro from Eagle Crest Golf Club, will be on hand to share tips and know-how, sure to help you shave a few strokes off your game this season. Door prizes include a round of golf with carts at Eagle Crest! Seating is limited, so please submit a comment here or call 237-0891 to register.
Will be your rallying cry after attending Kerry Mendez’s program here tomorrow beginning at Noon. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Kerry is the owner of Perennially Yours, a local garden design firm. Kerry’s presentations are always informative and entertaining. We anticipate a capacity crowd, so please plan accordingly.
Wise words from the acclaimed television series Hill Street Blues. And we are offering two opportunities to learn how to be careful on the internet. Tonite at 6:30pm and Saturday April 17th at 11am, Christine Connell will be here to talk about how to keep your computer secure and your internet use safe. Both workshops are free.
The first half of our Classic Movie Series concludes this Monday March 29th, with a screening of “Captains Courageous“, starring Lionel Barrymore & Spenser Tracy. It was directed by Victor Fleming who also was behind the cameras for the Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind. Speaking of Gone with the Wind, we will announce a winner of our deluxe DVD set of that classic of cinema classics. You must attend to be entered in the drawing. The Classic Movie Series will resume in the fall.
So declares Princess Tiana when confronted with a request from a frog who claims to be Prince Naveen…of Maldonia. The Princess and the Frog is the latest from Disney Animation, nominated for 3 Oscars and out on DVD this week. We have it to show here at the library this afternoon beginning at 2pm!

Periodically the staff here at the library use their creative skills to whip up a basket full of books and other goodies and then give it away! All that’s required to get in on the fun is a visit to the library that results in you checking out three or more items! Pictured left is one of the lucky recipients of our holiday basket drawing. The new one has just debuted and the drawing will run until the end of the month. So if you needed a new excuse to visit the library, now you have one!
