Income Tax Preparation Assistance

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Came across this information via WGY and thought it would be of interest to our patrons. An effort supported by the United Way called VITA is offering tax preparation assistance at various locations around the Capital Region. A list of those locations can be found here. While the library is unable to provide direct assistance in this area, we do provide tax forms and you can access the IRS and New York State Dept. of  Taxation webpages from our computers.

Could you use a Library Elf?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Ever thought to yourself as you once again return your library materials late, that you wish someone could send you a little reminder BEFORE your materials were due, you wouldn’t be late? Your wish has been granted via LibraryElf! Signup is free and SALS-MVLS libraries are supported. We’ve used it for over a year and have nothing but great things to say. So hire and Elf and say so long to overdue library materials!

Looking for Book Discussion Leaders

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

The Waterford Library recently created an online book discussion blog. Now we are looking for a few fearless book mavens to lead some on-line book discussions.  No experience necessary, beyond a familiarity with blogging and an interest in sharing your love of some great books! An informal gathering of such folks is being planned for the near future. In the meantime if you are interested in getting involved in such an endeavor, please leave a comment here or send an email from our contact page.

New Storytime Hours

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Due to a dramatic decrease in attendance at library storytimes during the fall, we have made changes to when our storytimes in January will be offered. The “toddler time” story hour will take place on Friday the 11th and the 25th at 11am.  The pre-school storytimes in January will be the Tuesday the 15th and the 29th at 1:30pm. Further changes to the schedule may occur in the months to come, and if attendance continues to decline, the program may be suspended.  We encourage parents and care-givers to take advantage of these wonderful programs, which are presented by trained and dedicated library volunteers.
