Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

We were pleased to hear that our Town Supervisor, Jack Lawler recommended the library as a place to learn more about on-going Hudson River Dredging Project. We will be adding links to several Internet sites dedicated to the project on our Web Resources page soon. In the meantime, you can get the latest media links about the project by going to Google News and typing “Hudson River Dredging”.

New Website for Troy Public Library

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

We often refer people to the Troy Public Library for  local genealogy information or requests for obits from their Troy Record microfilm collection. I have noticed that they have recently upgraded their webpage and thought that our customers would be interested in how to reach them. And maybe they will return the favor and link to ours!

Volunteer Opportunities

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I received a call recently asking about volunteering at the library. Unfortunately we do not currently use volunteers, due to our small size and lack of regular tasks that might well suit a volunteer corp.  However the Friends of the Waterford Library are always looking to expand their ranks and have regular need for volunteers to staff their events. The Friends meet here at the library on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 pm. You can also stop in and pick up a sign-up sheet or leave contact information for the Friends board. I encourage folks interested in lending a hand to  the library to join the Friends.

Update to Library Catalog Features

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Visitors and users of this blog are probably already familiar with the ability to subscribe to RSS feeds via a RSS newsreader, such as the one that’s built into IE7 or Safari. We’ve just added a new feed from our online catalog that will keep you updated on new materials as they are added to the collection! From our catalog page, look for the New Stuff link and then click on the “Subscribe to this Feed” link. You will then be notified via your RSS reader on a weekly basis about any new items added to our collection. If you need any assistance with this technology, feel free to comment here and we can provide some assistance.
