Friends of the Library Celebrate 5 Years of Service

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

This past Thursday the Friends of the Waterford Library held their Annual Meeting. The meeting marked the completion of their first 5 years as a support and fund-raising adjunct of the library.  Accomplishments during this period include raising monies to purchase a digital camera and digital projector for the library and underwrite juvenile programming and reading backpacks. They have sponsored a successful gardening program and helped establish a semi-regular film series.  Upcoming activities include raffles for a Book Tote of Mysteries and a Wii game system. The friends are always looking for new members and application forms can be picked up at the library. The Friends meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday, 7pm at the library.

Just a reminder that Sunday hours have returned to the our weekly schedule. We are open Sundays from 1-4pm. If your Sundays don’t involve the NFL or you are looking for a great book or DVD, we are here to help!

It’s Here!

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Or more accurately, it WILL be here tomorrow (as long as UPS cooperates). The other big secret is that unlike many libraries, our new books can be reserved by anyone, as long as you’re willing to come visit us to pick them up! So if you don’t want to buy it, or wait your turn on the reserve list (271 people and counting), think about paying us a visit!

Storytime Returns

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

We are pleased to announce the return of a regular story-time at the library.  It will take place on Fridays at the following times, 10am, Noon, 2pm and 4pm. Each session will last about 30-40 minutes. Sign-ups are NOT required, so last minute drop ins are encouraged! Liz, our youth services librarian, welcomes both parental participation and input.    So plan to join us beginning this Friday for stories and more! Questions or suggestions should be directed to Liz, by calling 237-0891.
