The 2010 Waterford Library T-Ball Team

Last night, the Waterford Public Library T-Ball team visited the library to celebrate a lively and fun season.  They enjoyed a quick story time followed by some popsicles before presenting the library with a handmade card and photo plaque from the team.

They have one more game this Saturday, June 12 @ 10:am at Garrett Field.

May 22nd, 2010

The library is pleased to once again be able to sponsor a Waterford Youth Baseball team this spring.  We got a young squad this year, but we’re hearing good things about their progress on the diamond. And win or lose we look forward to welcoming them here to the library for a celebration of their season on June 11th. Next game is Tuesday May 25th!

A knack for winning

May 18th, 2010

Fast on the heels of our winning the Harlan Coben contest, we are very proud of Library Trustee Michael Marchese, who won a 2009 Library Trustee of the Year award last evening at the SALS Annual Meeting.  Mike has been a Library Trustee for ten years and has contributed in myriad ways to the success of the library. And he’s coming back for more folks, Mike will be running for a third term on June 2nd.

eBooks have arrived!

May 10th, 2010

You may notice that one of the buttons that help navigate users around our webpages has been changed from Downloadable Audiobooks to Download Audiobooks AND ebooks! We have recently begun offering our customers access to a small but soon to grow collection of mostly non-fiction ebooks.  They can be downloaded and read on your computer or transferred to certain portable eReaders, such as the Nook or Sony’s Reader.  They are NOT compatible with Amazon’s Kindle or the new Apple iPad however. You’ve heard about eBooks, read about them perhaps, well now is an opportunity to try them out, thanks to your local public library!

And the Winner is….

April 27th, 2010

Us! That’s right folks, the library’s entry in Dutton Books Get Caught Reading Twitter contest was chosen at random as the winner! We will receive a Flip videocam and a signed copy of Harlan Coben’s latest thriller, Caught.  As they say on This Week in Baseball, “How about that”!

New Advanced Search Function

April 26th, 2010

We have added the ability to search by Collection to the Advanced Search screen of the on-line Polaris catalog. So if you are looking for authors or titles in the Mystery or Romance collections for example, your searches will be easier and more accurate.  We’re excited and we think you will be also!
