Film Movement

August 14th, 2008

You might not be aware that your library makes available some tremendous independent films each and every month. Thanks to our subscription to Film Movement. As they see it…Too many great films are never released widely. Despite critical acclaim and major awards, millions of film fans across the country never get the chance to see them. Film Movement was created to change that. Film Movement scours the world’s top film festivals each year including Cannes, Sundance, Toronto and New York to select the best, award-winning films from among thousands of qualified entries.”
So if you’re a fan of smart, edgy, and potentially important film-making, you have another reason to visit our library!

Weekend Activities Galore

August 8th, 2008

All roads (and waterways) lead to Waterford this weekend for the 6th Annual Heritage Day festivities. It all kicks off this evening with a Concert Under the Stars featuring Kevin & Kate McKrell.  Showtime is 7pm and the concert will be followed by Fireworks at 9pm. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase. The rain location will be the Waterford Civic Center on 3rd St.  On Saturday Aug. 9th, Heritage Day will commence with an antique fire engine parade through the village of Waterford, followed by an old fashioned Firemen’s muster at Garrett Field. Complete details can be found here.

Changes to Library’s Reserve Policy

August 6th, 2008

We recently implemented a small but significant change to our reserve policy for new books. Patrons from any library in the SALS/MVLS system can now place reserves for our new books. The catch is they will have to come to Waterford to pick them up. We won’t ship out new materials via Interlibrary Loan.  So if you can’t wait to read the latest bestseller from your favorite author and don’t mind a short trip to Waterford, place a reserve and come on by!

New Books Hit the Shelves

August 6th, 2008

New books and other materials hit the shelves here at the library on a regular basis. An easy way to keep up with what’s new is to visit the “New Stuff” section of the on-line catalog.

What are Your Hours?

June 27th, 2008

Is probably the most asked question we answer here at the library. Beginning July 1st, for the first time in decades the answer is going to be a little different!  On Tuesday July 1st, library hours will change slightly . We will be open on Monday & Thursdays from 9am-8pm, Tuesdays & Wednesdays from 9am-6pm, Fridays from 9am-5pm and Saturdays from 9am-1pm. We close on Sundays during July & August. After Labor Day the weekend hours will become Saturdays from 9am-3pm and Sundays from 1-4pm. The weekday hours will remain the same. Ask for a bookmark with the new hours when you next visit the library, which we hope will be real soon!
